Don’t forget to RSVP for USC Spectrum Career Fest tomorrow night featuring the award-winning documentary filmmaker Andrew Jenks.
Andrew Jenks takes his viewers on incredible and poignant journeys into stories untold.
Over 5 million viewers tuned into his MTV series, World of Jenks, and marveled as he captured and wide and unique range of untold stories from the voices of our generation.
In each episode, the then 24-year-old Jenks focused his lens and created a bond with each subject to tell the story of one person’s life while bringing viewers closer to understanding someone else’s true reality – everyone from a platinum-selling hip-hop artist to a young homeless woman, a pro-cheerleader to a young adult with Autism. Jenks dove wholeheartedly into these disparate lives and in the process pioneered a new style of storytelling for the current generation of young people. Andrew challenged audiences to broaden their horizons and knock down conventional stereotypes by seeking out worlds that are otherwise foreign to them.
His other films, Room 335 and The Zen of Booby V, offer unique perspectives on the lives of seniors in an assisted-living facility and the American baseball manager, Bobby Valentine, respectively. Both films have been praised by critics and fans around the world. And the guys only 2g.
His work speaks for itself, and any aspiring filmmaker (and intellegent human being) should attend this FREE event.
Afterward, I’ll sit down with him for some Q’s and A’s. So stay tuned.
Tomorrow, February 2nd in Bovard Auditorium at 7:30 pm.
